This month we bring you news of our fantastic new CourseFinder tool, details of several exciting summer internship opportunities and there's a third-level scholarship now open for students interested in a career in tax. Our new, enhanced CourseFinder tool has now been launched, to assist students researching CAO course options.

It allows users to search the range of available undergraduate courses using any combination of filters such as: Career Interests; Career Sectors; Region; Colleges; CAO Points level; availability of QQI Progression routes.
Popular additional filter options include: No Maths required; Accepts Foundation Maths; Accepts Ordinary Maths; Lab Science not required; or Modern Language not required.

Results are instant with information available on Further Education and Training (FET) links as well as Career Progression.
Favourite courses can be tagged and saved in the student’s FREE career file and accessed at any time from any device where a user has the option to print and compare saved courses.

Did you know ...

You can now explore FetchCourses to search for further education courses throughout Ireland using the 'Search FetchCourses.ie' option within the CourseFinder tool. You can then save and add them to your personal Career File on CareersPortal.ie.

BIM is recruiting for the QQI Level 5 Certificate in Commercial Fishing and Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport’s Engineer Officer (Class 3) training programmes commencing in September 2017.

Start your New Year by upskilling with CPA Ireland's Certificate in Business

The CPA Certificate in Business and Accounting is a flexible online course which offers a comprehensive introduction to the concepts and practices of business management, with an emphasis on accounting. This course is aimed employees who wish to formalise their learning in the workplace or students beginning their studies or career in business.

Students can begin studying at any time of the year.

Irish tax institute

Leaving Certificate students who are interested in a career in tax and feel they will achieve at least 475 points in the Leaving Certificate, but who require financial support to progress to third-level are encouraged to apply.

Tax Summer Internships

You will be getting real life on the job tax experience, and getting paid to do so! It's a terrific way of finding out if a career in tax is for you, whilst building your CV skills.

The programme is open to students from all disciplines in their penultimate year. We want business students, scientists, engineers, students from the arts & humanities, law students from all backgrounds. This internship is fully-paid.

EY Assurance Graduate Programme 2017

Applications for EY’s Assurance Graduate Programme commencing September 2017 have re-opened. Read about some of our assurance trainees’ experiences in our Blog here.

This year the BT Young scientist was as successful as ever! BPCI was delighted to be joined once again by the Irish Medtech Association to host an industry stand where we talked to students and the public about everything from oesophageal stents, medicines that treat cancer and infrared spectroscopy to floating taps, 3-D printers and artificial limbs.

Applications will open soon for 'Engineering Your Future', a week-long, hands-on programme for Transition Year students who have an interest in science and maths. The programme is designed to introduce students to the exciting and diverse world of engineering.


Engineers Week 2017

Schools competition based on your work placement experience.

It's simple really - just write about your work experience and the skills you identified and developed, and enter it to the National Career Skills Competition - fantastic prizes to be won! Closing date for entries 5th April 2017.

Adult Learner “Skills for Work” competition aimed at students undertaking FETAC Level 4 and 5 work experience modules.

The aim is to build on some of the existing work students are required to do for this module in relation to developing career skills and reflecting on their career development as a result. There is a special prize for the winning work experience tutor/guidance counsellor. To participate, please register your FET centre by contacting bwalsh@careersportal.ie. Training Dates 2017 ...
CareersPortal offers practical training on the best use of its resources as a support to guidance professionals, tutors and trainers. Training dates (by county) for the coming academic year are as follows. Counties will only be visited once - Book Early to avoid disappointment!
